This album contains newly mixed, remastered (96kHz/24bit) and extended versions of all tracks used in Paradise Road Trip, my short little retro-inspired entry for the A Game By Its Cover Game Jam 2018! You can download the game for free here:

For this soundtrack, I went for a late 80s/90s aesthetic. As a result, every track features a (software version of a) Yamaha DX7 or Korg M1, arguably the two most important synthesizers of that era. I wanted to do something that sounds retro, but didn't stay within the strict limitations of chiptunes. So I went for music that would have been considered popular or pleasant during that time period instead.

I also followed a rather unusual approach by constantly checking whether the music still sounds interesting when slowed down to half speed during the game's main feature, the Chill Mode. Quite a few song ideas had to be scrapped because they didn't sound chill enough~

"Beach House" is a bonus track not featured in the game. The original plan was to have it play during the final segment of the game, as the road trip comes to an end, but as the released game doesn't have any segments and time was running short, it didn't make the cut.
